Terms of Service

Last updated: April 29, 2026

Agreement

By using Book Talk, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Book Talk. If you are under 18, you may use the service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep your account credentials secure.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users, including in live audio, chat, or club content.
  • Post content that infringes copyright or other rights.
  • Upload, transmit, or share illegal content, including content that sexualizes minors.
  • Attempt to circumvent access controls, scrape the service in bulk, or interfere with normal operation.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice, particularly for repeat infringement or safety issues.

Your content

You retain ownership of the content you post on Book Talk — club descriptions, chat messages, audio you publish during a session, and recordings you authorize. By posting content, you grant Book Talk a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, and adapt that content as needed to operate the service (for example, transcoding audio, generating share previews, and delivering recordings to club members).

If a session is recorded, all participants will be informed before the recording starts. By continuing to speak, you consent to the recording being stored and replayed within the club.

Subscriptions and payments

Hosts can offer paid subscriptions to their clubs. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring billing on the cadence shown at checkout until you cancel.

  • You can cancel a subscription at any time from your billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law.
  • Hosts receive payouts from their subscription revenue, net of payment processing fees and any platform fee disclosed to them separately.

Termination

You can stop using Book Talk and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to other users or the platform.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Book Talk disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Book Talk and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Book Talk is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
