Privacy Policy

Book Talk (“we,” “us,” or “Book Talk”) is a service for hosting and joining live audio conversations about books. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

• Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address, a public handle, and a display name. If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive a basic profile (typically email and name).
• Content you create. Clubs you host or join, books you add to lists, votes you cast, chat messages you send, and sessions you create or attend.
• Live audio. When you join a session as a host or speaker, your microphone audio is transmitted in real time to other participants. If a host enables recording, we store the recording so it can be replayed by club members.
• Payment information. If you subscribe to a premium club, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.
• Technical data. Standard request logs, including IP address, user agent, and timestamps, used to operate and secure the service.
• Cookies. We use cookies for sign-in sessions and to remember your theme preference. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

• To provide the service: route audio, render clubs, deliver chat.
• To send transactional email — magic links, session alerts you opt into, billing receipts, and account notices.
• To prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

We use a small set of vendors to operate Book Talk. They process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations:

• Supabase — database, authentication, file storage.
• LiveKit — real-time audio routing and optional session recording.
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.

• You can update or delete most of your content from your profile.
• You can request a copy of your account data, or delete your account, by emailing booktalklive@gmail.com.
• You can unsubscribe from session alerts at any time via the link in those emails or from your notification settings.

Book Talk is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email.
